  • Authorities are investigating an assault from over the weekend during which several shots reportedly were fired at a Leavenworth man, according to a police spokesman.
No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.
The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North 13th Terrace.
A 28-year-old Leavenworth woman reported that two men attacked her. Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said it appears there had been an argument before the attack.
"We don't believe it was random," he said.
He does not know what the argument was about.
A 27-year-old Leavenworth man came to the woman's aid. And at some point, one of the suspects reportedly drew a handgun and fired several shots at the 27-year-old man.
"The suspects left prior to our arrival," Nicodemus said.
The incident apparently occurred outside of apartments.
Nicodemus said police recovered empty shell casings at the scene.
The deputy chief said investigators have some basic information about the identity of the two suspects but the men have not been found.
