  • Authorities are investigating a report of an armed robbery at a Leavenworth apartment complex, a police spokesman said.
The crime was reported around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Silverleaf Street. A 26-year-old man reported that he had answered a knock on his apartment door. The man at his door asked for a roll of toilet paper.
"The victim turned around to get it, and the suspect stepped inside and produced a handgun," said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
The suspect reportedly demanded money from the victim.
"The victim turned over the money he had on him," Nicodemus said, which was $672.
The suspect then left the scene. The victim was not injured during the robbery.
Police have not located the suspect. Nicodemus said the victim did not indicate that he knew the victim. The investigation is said to be ongoing.
The suspect was described as a white man with a shaved head. He had what were described as acne scars on his face. He wore a green shirt and khaki cargo pants, according to Nicodemus.
