The trial of a Leavenworth man accused of killing his 2-year-old son won’t begin Monday as previously scheduled, according to a prosecution spokeswoman.

The attorney for defendant Robert Vroman, 23, has had a death in his family, according to Deborah Owens, spokeswoman for the Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office.

She said a new trial date for Vroman had not been set, but he was scheduled to make an appearance today in Leavenworth County District Court.

Vroman is charged with first-degree murder resulting from the commission of child abuse.

The charge stems from the August 2007 death of his son, Devin Trapp. Authorities have alleged the boy died as a result of severe head trauma.
