  • An inmate at a Leavenworth detention facility has pleaded no contest to the attempted aggravated battery of a correctional officer.
Maurice Dickens entered his plea Friday in Leavenworth County District Court.
The charge stems from an Oct. 22 incident at the Corrections Corporation of America Leavenworth Detention Center.
He had been charged with aggravated battery, and the case was scheduled to go to trial next week. He pleaded Friday to the amended charge of attempted aggravated battery as a result of an agreement with County Attorney Todd Thompson.
