    Leona Rose Schwinn, 89, of Leavenworth passed away July 17, 2012, in Emporia, Kan.  She was born February 17, 1923, in Leavenworth County, the daughter of Marion F. and Mary T. Hubbel. On July 16, 1946, she married Walter G. Schwinn at Leavenworth, Kan. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1999.
    Mrs. Schwinn worked at the Induction Center, Fort Leavenworth during World War II. She then spent many joyous years as a homemaker and volunteer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School.
     Leona is survived by her sons Harold W. and Delores Schwinn, Emporia, Kan. and David A. Schwinn, Leavenworth, Kan. Her grandchildren Sara Sedgwick and Tom, Bonner Springs, Kan., and Laura Schwinn, Emporia, Kan., and one great grandchild, Rebecca Sedgwick, Bonner Springs, Kan. She also leaves her sister-in-law Miriam A. Seute and Robert, Leavenworth, Kan.
    She was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and a grandson.
    Visitation will be held Friday morning, July 20, 2012, beginning at 9 a.m., with the funeral service following at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, Kan.  Burial will be held at Mt. Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan. immediately after the funeral service.
    In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School. Arrangements are entrusted to the Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, KS.
