Baseball games begin at 5 and 8 p.m. with Blue Valley vs. Easton and Geiger vs. Diamond Jaxx.

For three local American Legion baseball teams, everything is on the line starting tonight.

The American Legion AAA Zone 1 Tournament kicks off this evening at Sportsfield where a four-team, double-elimination competition will decide who is going to state next week.

Geiger Ready-Mix, LV Diamond Jaxx and the Easton Outlaws, plus the Blue Valley Jaguars, all need to take home this weekend’s crown or put the gloves up until next spring.

In tonight’s opening round, the Jaguars and Outlaws will meet at 5 p.m. while Geiger and the Jaxx will face off at 8 p.m. The winners will then compete on Friday at 5 p.m. and the losers will fight to stay alive at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the two teams with one loss will decide at 4 p.m. who gets to face the tournament’s remaining undefeated squad at 8 p.m. for the championship. If the lower team wins, a winner-takes-all contest will be help on Sunday at 2 p.m.

All games will last nine innings and ticket prices are $5 for adults, kids 14-10 $3 and children 10 and under are free.
