Area alums to play in final high school all-star game Thursday — the 2012 KBCA All-Star Game.
In less than 48 hours, the final act of several local high school basketball stars will take place.
On Thursday, Leavenworth’s Grant Greenberg, Lansing’s Izaiah Grice and Basheor-Linwood’s Ryan Murphy will compete in the 2012 Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game inside Lee Arena on the campus of Washburn University.
The exhibition will begin with the girls’ game at 6:05 p.m. and the boys’ contest shortly after.
The event marks the end of a two-day affair where some of the best high school basketball players from around the state have come together one last time before heading off to their respective colleges.
Next year, Greenberg is signed to play ball at Northwest Missouri State, Grice will head to Hutchinson Community College and Murphy is set to join Emporia State University with his brother Colin.
Also at the contest’s reception, Leavenworth head boys’ basketball coach Larry Hogan will be honored for his 35-year career in the coaching ranks. He will receive a plague as well for reaching the 500 win plateau.
