  • Team: Leavenworth girls’ tennis
    Coach: Shad Langfoss
    Key returners:
    Christina Dominique, senior
    Maggie McDonald, senior
    Newcomers to watch:
    Meagan Brucker, freshman
    Sydnie Lundy, sophomore
Team Outlook: STRENGTHS — Thanks to numerous Sunday night hit-arounds throughout the summer, the Lady Pioneers development is ahead of schedule.
On top of that, coach Langfoss cited the fact that several girls went to tennis camps and put in extra work with private lessons this offseason, increasing their improvement.
WEAKNESSES —  Besides Dominique and McDonald, the squad does not return much experience from last year’s squad.
Big games: Leavenworth Quad, Aug. 30; DeSoto Invitational, Sept. 22; Sunflower League meet, Sept. 27
Coach says: “I am very anxious for this season to start. We will hopefully have 20-plus girls on the team with over half being underclassmen. If they stick with tennis and put some hard work and time into it, I can see great things in our future.”
