Team Outlook: STRENGTHS — From the onset, the Lansing girls’ cross country squad brings back several runners from last year’s team that placed third overall at the 5A state meet. That experience, plus the drive to do better, makes the Lady Lions even more dangerous than it was in 2011.
The Lions’ boys team returns one seasoned senior who will lead a booming group of underclassman that has Malm excited to shape and develop.
WEAKNESSES — Experienced depth is always a concern and that sits a top the lists for both Lansing squads. For the girls, a few runners will need to step up and fill key roles vacated from last year’s team, while the boys have a lot of newcomers, but few with varsity time.
Big games: Bonner Invitational, Sept. 15; Rim Rock Farms Invite, Sept. 22; Bank of America Classic, Oct. 6
Coach says: “We have a great mix of veterans and youth on a team that has already seemed to bond pretty well. I am excited about this because it is essential to have good chemistry to have a successful team. We are looking forward to getting the season started.”
