Team Outlook: STRENGTHS — The chemistry of this year’s Lady Spires team, which made the KCAC?conference tournament last season for the first time since 2007, is the first strength coach Seever highlights.
With a balanced mixture of returning players and newcomers, the coach likes the unity and competitiveness the Lady Spires have developed.
The squad should also display an aggressive attack going forward thanks to the continued improvement of Nye and Beebe, who both showed an offensive knack in 2011.
WEAKNESSES — With a season that lasts over two months, depth will always be an area of concern and this year is no different for USM.
In addition, though the team has great chemistry, the effects of blending in new starters will need to be watched as well.
Big games: At Benedictine, Aug. 28; Home opener vs. College of Saint Mary, Sept. 8; Conference home opener and Breast Cancer Awareness Day vs. Bethel, Oct. 7; Senior Day vs. Southwestern, Oct. 21
Coach says: “I am very excited about the prospects of this team. I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to lead them and will do everything in my power to give them the tools to be successful. After a long week of three-a-days, the team is ready to lace them up and take on another school. I am looking forward to getting a boost of energy from the community to support us at our home games.
