  • Steps were taken in the right direction Tuesday by the Pleasant Ridge volleyball team.
In its first home meet of the season, the Lady Rams dismantled Kansas City Christian 25-18, 25-18 and suffered a narrow defeat to Valley Falls, 11-25, 25-22, 25-27.
“Against Valley Falls, the final two matches were amazing,” PR coach Amy Bergman said. “The girls played outstanding volleyball. They were picking up things and making saves that I would’ve never thought possible. It was awesome volleyball.”
Statistic leaders from the evening for Pleasant Ridge included Ashton Langley, who had a team high eight blocks and 13 kills. Jordan Adams led Ridge in kills with 16, while Kelsey Carpenter had eight to add to her four blocks. Holly Ewert also tallied nine kills.
“When we put it all together and started playing to our potential, it was outstanding volleyball,” Bergman said. “It is a good starting point and I’m excited to see where we go from here.”
PR will be back home on Thursday when Schlagle and Atchison visit at 5 p.m.
    Imac dominant
The Immaculata volleyball team wasted little time taking care of business Tuesday.
On the road at Washington, the Lady Raiders beat their hosts 25-5, 25-4 and then defeated Wyandotte 25-14, 25-3.
“We played pretty consistent,” Imac coach Dan Schmidt said. “Everybody played well tonight. I thought we served well and it was just an overall, sound game.”
Imac will hope for a repeat performance come Thursday when it travels to Turner for a 4:30 p.m. meet.
