  • It was hard sledding for the Lansing boys’ soccer team Tuesday.
Hosting Topeka Seaman, the Lions struggled to generate scoring opportunities while its opponent did not. A pair of Viking goals in each half set the tone for a 4-0 Lansing loss.
“They are a good team, but we also made them look a lot better tonight,” Lansing coach Randy Brown said. “They out passed us, out hustled us, our scored us and we have to get back to playing better in every phase quick or else.”
The opening Seaman strike came in the match’s 16th minute, followed by another 20 minutes later right before half time.
After the break, the visitors took an iron grasp on the contest with a goal four minutes into the new period. The final tally came at the 72nd minute mark, punctuating a poor night for the Lansing squad.
On Thursday, the Lions, 1-2, will welcome cross-town rival Leavenworth at 6 p.m.
“Versus Leavenworth, whoever gets that first goal will have a big advantage I think,” Brown said. “As far as tonight, we need to make it a great learning opportunity, but I don’t want to us to be learning all the time.”
