Tony Weber leads the Ridge boys by finishing first overall.
Rain pelted the Pleasant Ridge cross country teams on Thursday, as well as 15 other squads at the McLouth Invite.
Yet, the Lady Rams paid little attention to the wet conditions and marched onto a second place overall finish.
“It was sloppy and the kids were falling, but they ran well considering the rain,” PR coach Chad Hendrix said. “For them to run better times on a course where they had to slow down at certain spots was good to see.”
The Ridge girls had five medal — Rachel Hattok won sixth, Kristina Silvers took seventh, Hailey Worthington earned eighth, Grace McKinny placed 17th and Carly Simonis nailed down 18th.
Tony Weber was the lone boy to medal for PR, but did so in grand fashion. He placed first overall in just his second race of the year.
“He just started running Saturday and so he is rounding into form and did real well tonight,” Hendrix said.
Ridge will be back to running on Tuesday at Tonganoxie. The meet starts at 4 p.m.
