Wilford Osborn Martin, 80, of Leavenworth, passed away Monday September 10th, 2012. Wilford was born August 16th, 1932 in Leavenworth, KS.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home, his son Douglas Randall Martin, his daughter Sherry Nelson (Michael) and their sons Jacob and Jeremiah, Wilford's grandsons, and Alice Barry Hill, his cousin.
Wilford was preceded in death by his parents Evert and Dora Martin when he was very young, and then by his Aunt and Uncle Lily and Arthur Barry who raised him.
Wilford married Bonnie Lee Chambers on June 29th, 1951. Wilford graduated high school and attended trade school.
He was employed by Kaaz Woodworking from 1951 to 1953; he served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He returned to work at Kaaz Woodworking from 1955 to 1967; he then went on to work for The United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth 1967 to 1987, and Riverside Resources from 1987 to 1995.
Wilford was a very active member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and the Leavenworth Lions Club. Wilford greatly enjoyed driving the bus for Riverside and will be remembered for the laughter and smiles he brought to so many people. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held Thursday September 13th, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at The Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be Friday September 14th, 2012 at 10:00am at St. Paul Episcopal Church Leavenworth, KS. Memorials are suggested to The Council on Aging and St. Paul Episcopal Church.
