Saint Mary drops two matches at Avila for second straight weekend

It was a day of mixed results for the Immaculata volleyball team Saturday.

Participating in the Hiawatha Tournament, the Lady Raiders finished the day 2-2. Imac defeated Horton 27-25, 25-12 and Troy 25-16, 25-8, but lost to Centralia 25-23, 25-22 and Atchison in three sets.

"We saw some good teams up there, especially Centralia," Imac coach Dan Schmidt said. "They are the No. 1 team in the state in our class for a reason. We were close to them and when you play teams like that, you see things that you need to do better. We will correct our mistakes and it will make us better."

Immaculata, 11-4, will compete at Kansas City Christian today at 5 p.m.
