Traveling to Olathe South Tuesday, the Leavenworth girls’ tennis team captured just one win on the day.
The victory came from Anna Salvatorelli, who won her No. 6 singles match 8-6. The rest of the Lady Pioneers went 0-9 to cap off the rough outing.
“I still see a lot that we need to capitalize on,” LV coach Shad Langfoss said. “We are getting to the net, but we are missing the proper angles on hits. One positive was that our serves are looking better.”
In singles play, Leavenworth’s No. 1 Meagan Brucker fell 8-5, No. 2 Sydnie Lundy lost 8-2 and No. 3 Christina Dominique was beat 8-0. Jailyn Settles was defeated 8-2, No. 5 Megan Kelly stumbled 8-1 and No. 7 Maggie McDonald lost 8-1.
In doubles play, Brucker and Lundy suffered an 8-3 loss in the No. 1 pairing, Kelly and Settles fell 8-7 (7-5) at No. 2 and Dominique and Salvatorelli were toppled in the No. 3 match.
Leavenworth will host Olathe Northwest at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
