Leavenworth’s Buffalo Bill weekend went very well.
On Friday, 58 cyclists raced in the 2012 Buffalo Bill Century Cyclocross Ride. The following day 130 cyclists rode in the Buffalo Bill Century Ride and on Sunday 45 runners ran the Buffalo Bill Century 5K race. All finished safely and without incident.
Thanks to the superb work by all our volunteers. Thanks for your incredibly hard work that made the weekend successful.
Most participants and spectators are not aware of the hard work that goes on for months and weeks before and during an event like this. This diligence ensures participant safety, fun and a positive memory of their time in beautiful downtown Leavenworth.
The Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department outdid themselves as well. Their cooperation and can-do attitude helped to ensure that the event was a success.
The Riverfront Community Center is truly a jewel. The privilege of keeping our registration/weekend headquarters there for three days made the event much better. At every turn the staff was helpful and courteous. They reflect the attitude of Leavenworth Parks and Recreation director Julie Anderson.
Thanks to all who came out to race and ride. Special shout to Carl Fischer and Jennifer Smith who participated in all three events and won their groups in the 5K run. Congratulations to Jen Smith and Erica Haas who won their respective categories in Cyclocross and congrats to Mark Ramsden who won the men's category 4 race in Cyclocross and then raced again in the men's masters.
Above all, thanks to all our great sponsors and volunteers!
