After holding a successful home meet on Monday, things changed dramatically Tuesday for the Leavenworth girls’ tennis team.
The squad traveled to Olathe Northwest, where the Lady Pioneers were shut out on the day, losing all four of its varsity matches.
“I talked to the girls afterward and the girls really just felt like they had an off day and I could tell,” Leavenworth coach Shad Langfoss said. “Their shots didn’t have the same zip and they were just a step slower to the drop shots. That happens now and then and we just need to rebound in our next matches.”
All four of the matches finished with the same result — 8-0 in favor of the hosts. Jailyn Settles was slotted at No. 1 singles with Anna Salvatorelli at No. 2, while Sydnie Lundy and Meagan Brocker played No. 1 doubles. Christina Dominquez and Megan Kelly competed in the No. 2 doubles match.
Leavenworth will play at Shawnee Mission East Thursday at 3 p.m.
