Alvin Floyd Berg, 84, Leavenworth, Kan. passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, followed by a 1:30 p.m. funeral service at the Davis Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Medicalodge of Leavenworth Activity Fund or Round Prairie Church.
Al was born October 25, 1927, to Earl M and Hazel Mae (Jost) Berg.
He married Henrietta Mae Edwards on March 11, 1949, in Leavenworth after 53 years of marriage Mae entered Heaven on Mach 4, 2001.
They were blessed with three children, George E. Berg and wife Janet, Dollie M. Treat and husband Anthony and Coral D. Highfill and husband Randy, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Al was preceded in death by his brothers Malcomb, Earl, Elmer and Harold Berg, his sister Hazel Elmen, grandson, Brandon Treat and one great grandson.
He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1945.
Al served in the U S Navy during WW II, he received the Victory Medal, serving on the USS Jason ARH#1, he then served in the Army National Guard from 1948 to 1952 serving in Korea in the 167th Transportation Battalion.
Following his military career he worked with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 25 years.
Al turned his life to Christ in 1977 and became a Deacon in the Leavenworth Baptist Church.
In 1986 Al was ordained as the Minister of Round Prairie Community Church and served for Christ there until retiring in October 2006.
