  • A Missouri man was arrested after he allegedly waved a gun around Friday night outside a Leavenworth bar, a police spokesman said.
The 29-year-old High Ridge, Mo., man was arrested for allegations in connection to two handguns that reportedly were later found to be in his possession.
Police were contacted shortly before midnight for a report that the man was waving a gun outside of Woody’s Watering Hole, 507 Cherokee St.
“The suspect left in a vehicle before our arrival,” said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
He said police were provided a description of the vehicle and told its direction of travel. Police also were given a description of the suspect.
Police stopped a vehicle matching the description that had been provided in the area of Fifth and Seneca streets.
A man matching a description of the suspect was a passenger in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up two loaded handguns. The firearms were considered to be in the possession of the suspect, according to Nicodemus.
“They were within reach beside his seat,” the deputy chief said.
One of the handguns had been reported stolen in St. Joseph, Mo.
The suspect was arrested for allegations of possession of stolen property and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, Nicodemus said.
