The University of Saint Mary football team tallied its first win of 2012 in overtime fashion Saturday.
Competing at Sterling, the Spires opened the extra period with a 12-yard touchdown run from Evan Hearn. That broke a 14-14 tie, and after the home team answered with a TD of its own, the proceeding extra point was missed giving USM a 21-20 win.
"We we're able to establish the run game and our passing game was very efficient," USM coach Lance Hinson said. "The entire offensive line was the MVP this week."
USM, 1-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play, welcomes Bethany Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
