Authorities are investigating a shooting in which shots reportedly were fired Saturday at a Leavenworth apartment building, a police spokesman said.
No injuries were reported. Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department, said the incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault.
The incident was report at 7:32 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of Cleveland Terrace.
Police received a report that a car had pulled up in front of a duplex and several shots were fired.
The car had been driven from the scene by the time police arrived.
Officers were unable to locate the vehicle. They found four spent shell casings at the scene, according to Nicodemus.
“We did inspect the building,” he said.
But police did not find signs of damage to the structure.
Police also tried to make contact with people at the apartment building. They initially did not receive an answer. But Nicodemus said police later spoke with a victim.
Nicodemus said there apparently were people at the duplex at the time of the shooting but he doesn’t know if they were inside or outside the building.
The deputy chief said police are working on the investigation and wouldn’t comment on a possible motive for the shooting.
No arrests have been made.
