Two people were taken to the hospital following an accident Tuesday morning in southern Leavenworth County, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported a 7:49 a.m. Tuesday east of 242nd Street on Evans Road.
A 68-year-old rural Tonganoxie man reportedly suffered from a medical problem while he was driving a 2002 Kia Sportage. He blacked out and the vehicle went off the road, according to the report.
The sport utility vehicle struck a tree and came to rest on its passenger side.
The vehicle’s passenger, a 15-year-old boy, suffered cuts and bruises during the crash. The driver had no visible injuries. Both were transported by Leavenworth County EMS to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, according to the report.
