  • During the fall, many sports are in season including football, boys soccer, volleyball, cross country, and girls tennis.
One of the most important games of the fall sports season is the homecoming football game. The game is held on Friday at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium vs. the Shawnee Mission West Vikings. Come and support your Leavenworth Pioneers, and make sure to wear blue!
Prior to kick-off there will be a parade to get the community ready for the most exciting game of the year. The parade will begin at Warren Middle School (3501 New Lawrence Road), traveling down Tenth Street and ending in the high school parking lot. The parade will start at 3 p.m. Friday.
Some participating groups to look for are ROTC, Band, STUCO, Cheerleading, and the Homecoming Court. On Saturday evening, students will attend the Homecoming Dance, which will be held in the Leavenworth High School large gymnasium for the first time. The dance begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m.
The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. To recognize this Leavenworth High will host a Pink-Out Game on Friday, Oct. 19 beginning at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium. Breast Cancer survivors will be admitted into the game free.
Leavenworth High School will also be having their 2nd annual Pioneers Running for the Cure. This is a 5k walk/run on Saturday, Oct. 20, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. in Pioneer Stadium, and the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the track. To receive a registration form you can go to the Leavenworth High School website (www.usd453.org/lhs) or stop by the school. The fee is $25 for adults 18 and older, $20 for 13-17 year olds, and $15 for participants under 13. To return your completed registration form, drop it off at the school office or mail it to Theresa Carroll at 2012 10th Avenue Leavenworth, KS 66048. Make sure to register by Oct. 15 to guarantee you receive an event T-shirt.
Come out and support Leavenworth High through the Homecoming parade, upcoming games, or the 5K walk/run this October and show your Pioneer Pride!
