Playing through poor course conditions and chilly weather, Leavenworth golfer Lizzy Cline competed in her 5A regional tournament on Monday.
The competition, hosted at Shawnee Country Club, presented struggles for many of the participants due to the golf course’s quality according to LV coach Bob Hart.
“The course was in rough shape and the greens were just really fast so it was tough out there for all,” Hart said. “In the end, Lizzy just didn’t have a good day putting and that hurt her.”
The Lady Pioneer ended the tourney with a score of 124, missing the cut for next week’s 5A state tournament.
“Other than some missed putts, Lizzy had a good attitude about the day,” Hart said. “The mental aspect in golf is very important, and a couple bad holes had an effect on her, but she said afterwards that she is ready to put the work in this offseason to get better.”
