Board terminates employee

When they met for a special meeting Tuesday, members of the Leavenworth Board of Education approved a resolution to terminate a school psychologist.
The reason cited in the resolution for the termination of Vicki Condra-Williams is that she does not hold a current valid teaching license from Kansas as required by law and her contract.
Condra-Williams worked as a school psychologist at David Brewer and Earl M. Lawson elementary schools, according to Superintendent Kelly Crane.
Board members met behind closed doors in executive session for 10 minutes before voting on the resolution, which passed unanimously.
The executive session was requested by board member Nancy Klemp.
The resolution indicated Condra-Williams previously had been notified of the board’s intent to terminate her contract and was told she could have a hearing with the board.
Associate Superintendent Eric Punswick said he couldn’t provide additional details about the license of the terminated employee.
But speaking in general terms, Punswick said a person can end up without a valid teaching license because a license expires or issues arise with an out-of-state license.
Also during Tuesday’s special meeting, board members approved a staffing report. The report included various other personnel changes such as appointments, transfers and resignations.
