A rural Leavenworth man was taken to the hospital following a rollover accident Wednesday night, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The accident was reported at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday south of Edwards Drive on U.S. 73-Kansas 7 Highway.
The 24-year-old man reported that he was driving north in a 2001 Nissan Sentra when the vehicle went off the shoulder of the road. He overcorrected and the vehicle ultimately flipped and rolled, according to the Sheriff’s Office report.
The man told authorities he had not been wearing a seat belt.
The accident was reported by a passing motorist.
The driver of the Sentra was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan. He was admitted to the hospital for observation, according to the report.
The man reportedly provided authorities two different accounts of how many beers he drank and what his destination had been.
The investigation was said to be ongoing.
