87, Fairmount, Kan.
Geraldine E. Wiehe, 87 of Fairmount (Leavenworth County) Kan. passed away October 10th, 2012, at a Kansas City Hospital.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 15th, 2012, at Belden Larkin Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Grove of Fairmount United Methodist Church and Pastor Jeff Isaacs.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 14th, 2012, at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan.
Geraldine was born November 13th, 1924, in Jefferson, Okla. the daughter of Vernie and Anna (Spencer) Ohler. She attended and graduated from Basehor High school in 1942, and then entered secretarial school.
She married Howard E. VanTuyl Sr., he passed away in 1950. She then married Wallace Wiehe who preceded her in death in 1989.
Geraldine worked as a secretary and also did teletype at Fort Leavenworth and then was employed with the Eisenhower Medical Center until her retirement.
She was a longtime member of Fairmount United Methodist Church and enjoyed being involved with the church. She was a member of the W.S.C.S., Merry Matrons, Laureate Beta Psi Chapter, Leavenworth, Kansas, a former 4-H Club Leader with the Basehor Rustlers, and was Mother of the Year for the City of Leavenworth in 1958.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, collecting cookbooks, photography, woodworking and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors included: two sons; Howard VanTuyl, Jr. of Lansing, Kan. and John Van Tuyl and his wife Theresa of Leavenworth, Kan. Two step daughters; Jonell Williams and Linda Heath and her husband Ted both of Omaha, Neb., Four grandchildren; Janet, Jennifer, Christine, and Erika, Ten great grandchildren; Five Step grandchildren; Catherine, Aaron, Beth, Greg, and Karen, six step great grandchildren; one sister in law; Kay Ohler and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister; Joyce Powers, and two brothers; Dale and Hugh Ohler.
Memorials in her name may be directed to Fairmont United Methodist Church.
