Pioneers shut out by Olathe Northwest; Lions beat by Topeka Hayden
As the regular season enters its final week, the Immaculata soccer team endured a few more lumps Tuesday.
Stuck in a winless streak that now sits at six games, the Raiders dropped a 9-0 result at home to St. Joe LeBlond.
“I wouldn’t say they are the best team we’ve played, but they are one of them,” Imac coach Frank Mazeitis said. “They were a big team and we didn’t handle it well.”
The visitors racked up three first-half scores, but really pulled away in the second half when it posted six more.
Two of the tallies were own goals by Immaculata. Overall, the home team was outshot 49-6.
“I’m going to take us back to where our lineup was at the beginning of the season,” Mazeitis said. “It worked then but because of injuries and illness and other stuff, we had to mix it up. So we are going to go back to the beginning.”
Imac, 3-11-1, will play at Heritage Christ in Topeka at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Pioneers shut out by Olathe Northwest
The Leavenworth boys’ soccer team was beat 6-0 by Olathe Northwest Tuesday.
The Pioneers are now 1-14 and will wrap up its regular season Thursday at Tonganoxie with a 6 p.m. match.
Lions knocked off by Hayden
The Lansing boys’ soccer team lost 5-1 at Topeka Hayden on Monday.
Cole Hoing recorded the Lions’ lone goal in the second half, but two first-half strikes plus three in the second period paced Hayden to the four-goal win.
The loss completes Lansing’s regular season schedule, the Lions ending with an 8-7-1 mark. The team’s substate bracket will be released this Saturday with play starting early next week.
