  • A power company has reported the theft of more than half of a mile of an electrical line in Leavenworth County, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The crime was reported Thursday at 170th Street and Knapp Road. The electrical line was stolen after two utility poles were cut down. A transformer and electric meter also was stolen, according to the report.
Undersheriff Ron Cranor said the stolen equipment was in the area of an abandoned house, and there was no power running through the line. He said it’s not known when the theft occurred.
The report identified Leavenworth-Jefferson Electric Cooperative, McLouth, as the victim. Authorities have not received an estimate for the loss.
