Jessie was born December 22, 1919, in Tama, lowa, the daughter of Gus and Opal (Watkins) Taxter. She grew up on a rural farm in Garnett, KS. On August of 1937 she married Laurance A. Potts. She cared for him lovingly until he preceded her in death on November 3, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by three sons, Gary L. Potts (Janice), Charles A. Potts (Sally) and Ron D. Potts (Berna), grandchildren, Melissa, Tayve, Kristi, Ryan, Jack, Matt and Chloe, great grandchildren, Sayde, Masyn, Dalton, Wyatt, Reese, Chance, Ethan, Kaynin and Mia.
Jessie and Laurance looked forward to the monthly dances held at the Federal Prison Guard's Club. She also attended the retired Federal Prison's Guard functions at the USP Leavenworth.
Jessie worked at the Anthony Elementary School as a Librarian for twenty years. She was a talented artist, she enjoyed painting picturesque landscapes and stills, cooking, going to K U sporting events, doing volunteer work for Gushing Hospital and she had a spiritual connection to the American Native Indian culture.
She was also a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and an active member of Martha's Circle.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 P.M Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10 A. M Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
