For the University of Saint Mary volleyball team, the lights are nearly out on 2012.
The season took another step towards closure Wednesday when the Lady Spires traveled to Bethel.
After winning the first set 25-23, USM lost the following three — 25-20, 25-22, 31-29 — to lose in its last road trip of the regular season.
Saint Mary, 5-12 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and 10-22 overall, will conclude its regular season today when it hosts Tabor College at 5 p.m. USM is currently ranked No. 8 in the conference while Tabor is tied for the fourth spot.
Versus Bethel, Aubrey Harris led the team in kills with 15 while Jordyne Seichepine collected 13, Amber Mahoney had 12 and Haley Eastburn threw down 11. Samantha Richey racked up 30 assists on the evening while Danielle Dowdy had 23.
Amelia Noll led the team defensively with 28 digs, Harris collected 17 and Shelby Titus contributed 14. As a team, the Lady Spires had 10 total blocks.
