  • Todd Thompson will be the county attorney for another four years.
Voters in Leavenworth County re-elected Thompson, who’s finishing up his first term as county attorney.
Thompson, a Republican, defeated Democrat Patirck Cahill.
Thomspon received 17,005 votes, or 62 percent of the votes from across the county. Cahill received 10,403 votes, or 38 percent.
“It’s a very satisfying, gratifying win,” Thompson said Tuesday night.
Thompson, a Republican, said he owed his victory to a great team he works with.
He said he wants to keep on the path he’s been on during his first term, working to reduce crime. He said he wants to work with law enforcement including the new sheriff, Andy Dedeke, to better protect the community.
Thompson was first elected county attorney four years ago, unseating the then incumbent Frank Kohl.
