  • Millie A. Johnson, 71, of Tonganoxie, KS, passed away Tues., Nov. 6, 2012 at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Nov. 10th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Fri., Nov. 9th at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family requests contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Red Cross.
    Millie was born April 4, 1941 in KCK to Robert Charles and Mildred Alice (Stevens) Sewell. She was a 1959 graduate of Piper High School and was a lifelong KC area resident until she and her husband moved to Parkville in 1989. After leaving Parkville, Millie lived in several areas, including Jarblo, KS, and Weatherby Lake, before settling in Tonganoxie earlier this year. Millie was a past member of Mission Creek Baptist Church, had attended Trinity Community Church, and most recently attended West Haven Baptist Church. She held a variety of jobs throughout her life, working for Sealrite and Sunshine Biscuit in her early years, before becoming a Keypunch Operator for the IRS; after that, she continued working in Data Entry for Polled Hereford Association, TWA, Thompson Hayward and retiring in 2001 from Info Data Systems, all the while taking care of her home and family. Wanting to stay busy, after her retirement, Millie took a job driving a school bus. Millie was a member of the Heritage Center in Leavenworth and the Friendship Club where she enjoyed playing card games; she also enjoyed playing Bingo and solving all sorts of puzzles, as well as sewing, quilting, needlepointing and bowling.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and a daughter-in-law Heather Johnson. Millie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert L. Johnson of the home; 4 sons, Rob Johnson and wife Rossana of McLouth, KS, Mark Johnson and wife Deborah of Mountain Home, AR, Steven Johnson and his wife Shawn of Jarblo, KS, Greg Johnson of Parkville, MO; 3 sisters, Donna Whiles of KCK, Roberta Pace of KCK, Charlene Cochrane of Basehor, KS; several nieces and nephews, including Cheryl Peddicord and husband Mort of Shawnee, KS; 7 grandchildren, Marc Johnson and wife Amber, Megan Johnson, Forrest Johnson, Shyan Johnson, Parker Johnson, Lilli Johnson and Brody Johnson; and 2 great-grandsons, Jasper and Jaden.
