      - The first-ever Kansas FreedomFest will open with the free, public “community night” from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at 10th Avenue Park in Leavenworth.

      - Festivities will begin again at 10 a.m. Saturday at the event grounds at 10th Avenue Park. A benefit concert, featuring the Marshall Tucker Band, Aaron Tippin and Clay Walker, will begin at 1 p.m. and last until 10 p.m.

      - Tickets are available at Kansas Country Store in Leavenworth, the Lansing location of Exchange Bank and online at www.kansasfreedomfest.com.

      - Festival guides were provided in Wednesday's edition of the Leavenworth Times, the Lansing Times and Thursday's Fort Leavenworth Lamp.
