A Leavenworth holiday tradition officially has its trimmings so to speak.
The field for the 18th Annual Citizen National Bank Invitational Basketball Tournament was released this week. The competition, which will once again be hosted by Leavenworth High School, will start on Dec. 6 and last until Dec. 8.
Joining the host Pioneers in this year’s competition will be: Wichita’s Word of Life, Hogan Prep, Washington, North Kansas City, Raytown South, Topeka High and Wyandotte.
On Nov. 27, Citizens National Bank will be hosting a tip-off continental breakfast to announce the official seeds for the tournament. More details on the competition such as ticket prices and game times will follow the seeding announcement.
In last year’s CNB Invitational, the Pioneers won its first two games over North Kansas City and Raytown South to earn a spot in the championship game. However, in the finals versus Nixa High, Leavenworth fell short of claiming the title 75-70.
Like last season, the tournament will mark the beginning of the Pioneers 2012-13 schedule.
