Pauline West passed away November 7, at Providence Medical Center surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with cancer, she was 84. Pauline was born July 22,1928 at Nevada, Missouri she was the daughter of Virginia Harper Hewitt and Gale C. Hewitt.
Pauline married Everett F. West Sr. on June 1, 1946. Everett Passed away on November 8, 2010. Pauline worked for and retired from Hallmark Cards Leavenworth Production Facility.
A resident of Leavenworth county most of her life, she was happiest when she was with her family she loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A kind and caring person she put everyone else before herself. She loved to cook holiday dinners, making jewelry and going to the casinos. Her kindness often extended to so many others even outside her family, she had a warm smile and a way of making you feel everything would work out for the best. Her family was her greatest love and her family loved her dearly.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Everett F. West Sr. one son Everett F. West Jr., her parents Virginia and Gale Hewitt, one brother Melvin Leroy Hewitt, two sisters Bonnie Sparks, and Nadine Zink.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Marty) Simpson of Leavenworth, Donna West of Leavenworth, Gale C. West of Easton Ks., Mike West of Leavenworth, and Don (Joan) West of Leavenworth, Grandchildren Brad West of Leavenworth Ks, Angle West of Leavenworth Ks, Don (Amanda) West Maryland Heights Mo., Dan West of Lawrence Ks, Dr. Jeffrey (Melissa) Simpson Pasadena Ca., Dr. Justin (Shanna) Simpson Portage Ml. Four great grandchildren, Jessie West of Leavenworth, Colin West, Isabella West of Maryland Heights Mo, and Ryan Everett Simpson of Pasadena Ca. and many nieces and nephews. Extended family members Major (Ret.) Mary Glenn of Leavenworth: Daughter- in- Law Jane West of New Kirk, NM., two sisters Annabelle Driscoll of Oskaloosa Ks., Evelyn Bradford of Leavenworth, two brothers John Hewitt of Valley Falls Ks., and Bev Hewitt of Leavenworth Ks.
The greatest gift in life to her family was to have had her in their life. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 13, 2012, 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held Wednesday November 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel with burial following at Mount Muncie Cemetery, Lansing, Kan.
