Helen L. Blanche
Helen L. Blanche, 82, was lifted up by Jesus, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Shawnee Gardens, Shawnee Kan. She is now pain free and standing tall with her dancing shoes on. She was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Leavenworth, Kan., the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Shortridge) Stiglmire.
Helen had retired in 1979 from the Department of Defense in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Lansing Community Club. Her greatest pride was in her children and grandchildren and she was a talented and wonderful seamstress and cook. She had published three cookbooks because her family thought that she should be sharing her love and talent for cooking with everyone.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Triplett; two sons; John Guy and Bob (Lynn) Blanche, all of Leavenworth; ten grandchildren, Roger (Angie) Hundley, Shelley Thomas, Brian (Val) Triplett, John Marcus (Velda) Guy, Jessi Guy, Jordan (Jon) Benning, Brook Blanche, Betsey Blanche, Todd Harris and Jeff Harris; two sisters, Mary K. Ramsay of Kenosha, Wis. and Dorothy (John) Cravens of Cherry Hill, N.J. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Walter Stiglmire Jr., granddaughter, Lisa Annette Hundley and son-in-law, Doug Triplett.
Helen will be remembered as a strong, independent, hard working, fun-loving lady who was full of love and knew how to show it.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation, Hospice Care of Kansas, Lenexa, Kan., or a charity of you choice.
