Over the weekend, the University of Saint Mary cross country team had two compete in the 2012 NAIA Cross Country Championships.
Cesar Castillo and Brooks Ballou represented the Spires at the national race, which had 309 qualified racers competing.
Castillo finished the competition in 43th place, 12 spots from All-American recognition. He had the third best overall placement of the freshmen competitors. Ballou came in 136th place.
"Cesar ran like a stud and Brooks ran tough," USM coach David Dominguez said. "I am so proud of both of them. They both represented Saint Mary very well."
