Evelyn "Maxine" Sparks, 87, McLouth, KS., died Friday, November 23, 2012 at her home in rural McLouth. She was born October 25, 1925 at Leavenworth, the daughter of Thomas Andrew and Cordelia Marguretta Cox Mason. She was a 1942 graduate of Jarbalo High School and she attended the Leavenworth Business College. "Maxine" worked as a Postal Clerk in the McLouth and Oskaloosa Post Offices for 23 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the McLouth United Methodist Church. She was married to Clarence Ray "Ike" Sparks on June 14, 1943 at Platte City, MO., he preceded her in death on February 29, 2000. She is survived by one son, Gregg (Karen) Sparks, Tonganoxie, two daughters, Jane Sparks, Kansas City, MO., Judy (Mike) Schwinn, McLouth, one brother, Dean Mason, Eldridge, MO., eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Skeet and two infant siblings.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday at the McLouth United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday prior to the Service. Private Family Burial will be at the McLouth Cemetery. Mrs. Sparks will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM, Sunday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home, 1220 Walnut, in Oskaloosa.
