The Leavenworth Times - Leavenworth, KS
  • Johnston's Jottings: Many thanks and a sad loss for community

  • Many, many thanks to so many of you – I appreciate your prayers, your notes of concern, and your comments to me in person. My cancer is I believe, much better. I'll know more in December.

On another note: Leavenworth lost a really nice person when Darlene Kenny died. She was a "live wire" and so energetic!
My thoughts go out to her family. If only the good die young, it explains that I will probably live forever. Please keep those people in your prayers that you care for. Life can be so short, and for Darlene, especially, we lost the founder and mentor of the Saint Patrick's parade. Hope those who are in charge will make her the honorary parade marshal, next March 17.
Annie Johnston is a Leavenworth resident and wife of the late J.H. Johnston III, former Times publisher.
