To the editor:
I am writing in regards to Col. Jerry Cashion. Jerry is from my hometown and graduated high school with my wife in 1981 in Cornersville, Tenn. Jerry served as Lt. Col., Staff Leader U.S. Army Combined Arms Service Staff School, Fort Leavenworth, from June '02 to May '03.
Jerry lost his battle with cancer on Nov. 2 while serving as Colonel, Director Strategic Studies at the U.S. War College in Carlisle, Pa. Because of the distance, most of his classmates were not able to attend his service on Nov. 9.
We are having a memorial service for him here in Cornersville on Dec. 2. I am putting together a timeline of his career and also looking for photos from the various places he served. Would you happen to have any with him in it? If not, could you point me in the right direction or forward this to others that may have served with him?
Some of his classmates and friends cannot speak in front of a crowd but have written down some of their memories for us to read. If there are those who knew Jerry would contact me, I would be honored to read them.
