  • Raider grapplers ready to rebuild wrestling program
    • email print
  • Team: Immaculata wrestling
    Coach: Bobby Hancock
Coach’s record: 0-0, first year at Imac
    Key returnees:
    Paul Gilbert, 126-pound sophomore
    Bruce Stanley, 152-pound junior
    Max Campbell, 145-pound sophomore
    Newcomers to watch:
    Corey Holcomb, 138-pound freshman
    Sam Linder, 160-pound freshman
Team Outlook: STRENGTHS — Though Hancock marks the beginning of a new era for Immaculata wrestling, the coach has already been involved with the program for several years.
That familiarity has had a positive impact on the early development of the youthful squad.
“Since these guys know how I coach and what I expect, I felt like we were in week three instead of our second day of practice,” the Imac coach said. “I really believe that will help us round into form earlier.”
WEAKNESSES —  The numbers are low this season for the Raider program.
The team has just nine out, yet many of those are freshman and a budding middle school program has Hancock excited for the future.
Big meets: Onaga tournament on Dec. 8; Rossville tournament on Jan. 5
Coach says: “I think our intensity, focus and drive are what will make or break us this season. I look forward to seeing how much we can improve.”
