Barn destroyed in fire

A barn and its contents were destroyed by a fire Thursday in rural Leavenworth County, according to fire and sheriff office officials.

The fire was reported at 1:13 p.m. Thursday at 27379 179th St. No injuries were reported.

Inside the building were a tractor, an all-terrain vehicle and numerous tools, according to information from the Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Dave Asmus with Leavenworth County Fire District No. 1 said a preliminary investigation indicates the tractor overheated and caught fire.
