The Lansing girls’ basketball team’s rough start to the new season continued on Saturday.
After getting outscored 43-16 in the first half, the Lady Lions went on to lose to Lawrence Free State 77-42. Lansing’s top scorer was Danielle Pendergraft with nine points.
The Lady Lions will host Bishop Ward at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Lady Spires thwarted also
The University of Saint Mary women’s basketball team lost its seventh straight Saturday.
The Spires found itself in a 29-all tie with Sterling at the half, but couldn’t keep pace in the second.
USM, 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the KCAC, will play McPherson College at 6 p.m. Thursday.
