  • Though the swim meet was held by a third party, the Leavenworth and Lansing boys’ teams still found a way to go head-to-head.
The rivalry continued Wednesday at Turner, where the Lions finished fifth overall with 62 points, one spot ahead of the Pioneers’ 49.
“It was a good mix of competition at this meet,” Lansing coach Josh Floetke said. “We learned quite a bit about our strengths and weaknesses. We had many good performances, with most kids dropping time.”
Highlights for Lansing included Chase Martin getting third in the 500 freestyle, Dion DePaolis earning fourth in the 100 free and Matt Holden and Jake Bresser getting fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100 back stroke.
Top Leavenworth results were Carsten Defore picking up fourth in the 200 and 500 free, Ryan Hill winning fourth in the 100 breaststroke and Clayton Gubler, Hill, Duncan Robinnette and Josh Camerena taking fourth in the 200 medley relay.
“I was real pleased,” LV coach Willis Willmeth said. “Hill knocked down some time on his meets and others swam their best ever so that was good.”
