  • An Easton man was killed Friday in a head-on collision north of Leavenworth, according a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Terry E. Sullins, 56, died as a result of the accident, which was reported at 6:27 p.m. Friday about four miles north of Leavenworth on U.S. 73-Kansas 7 Highway.
Sullins had been driving north in a 1998 Dodge Dakota. He crossed the center of the highway in an attempt to pass another vehicle. Daniel Lee Watkins, 31, Easton, was driving south in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. He pulled onto the southbound shoulder in attempt to avoid a collision with Sullins’ car. But the Dodge Dakota also went onto the shoulder, and the two vehicles struck head-on, according to the KHP report.
Watkins was injured in the accident. He was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.
Watkins’ two passengers, a 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy, may have suffered injuries in the accident. They also were taken to the University of Kansas Hospital, according to KHP report.
Sullins and Watkins had not been wearing seat belts. The two children passengers were restrained.
