  • When the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) recently announced the 2012 Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All-America Teams, there was a distinct Leavenworth flavor.
Ottawa University’s Chrissie Jeannin, who is from the Leavenworth area and attended Tonganoxie High School, was named an honorable mention NAIA All-American.
The honorees were selected by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee.
Jeannin became just the second Lady Brave volleyball player ever to be named an NAIA All-American.
A senior from Leavenworth, Kan., Jeannin was named the 2012 KCAC Setter of the Year and was a first-team all-conference selection by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. She was also named KCAC Player of the Week twice and earned KCAC Setter of the Week three times this past season.
Jeannin played in 121 sets and 35 matches, helping OU capture the KCAC regular season and tournament championship with an overall record of 30-6 and a conference record of 18-0. She had 104 kills, a hitting percentage of .314, 1,289 assists, 29 service aces, 266 digs, and 54 blocks — two solo, 52 assisted.
The Lady Braves earned the conference’s bid to the 2012 NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Tournament where they fell in the first round to nationally ranked Bellevue University. The Lady Braves finished the season receiving votes in the 2012 NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches Top 25 Poll.
