William H. Novak, 59, of Leavenworth, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1953, the son of Leo L. and Marguerite M. (Vanlanker) Novak. .
On Dec. 6, 1980, he married, Karen M. Herrmann in St. Louis, Mo. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Louis W. Novak (fiancée Lauren); grandson, Carter W. Novak, all of Leavenworth; mother, Marguerite Novak, of Kansas City, Mo.; and brothers, John Novak (Kay) of North Port, Fla., Michael Novak of Kansas City, Mo., Stephen Novak (Margaret) of Lees Summit, Mo., Gregory Novak of Kansas City, Mo., Stanley Novak (Jaylene) of Overland Park, Kan., Edmond Novak of Kansas City, Mo., Thomas Novak, Albuquerque, N.M., and Robert Novak (Ann) of Lees Summit, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother Richard Novak.
William had worked with the Coalition for Independence and was a volunteer at the Cushing Hospital. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, a reception of his body will be held at the Sacred Heart Church followed by a visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials are made to the Immaculata High School scholarship fund in care of the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home.
