Elizabeth Anne Holder age 51, a resident of Lansing, KS, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Hereford, AZ. She was born August 19, 1961 in Lawton, OK to William and Jojuana Hicks.
Liz was born into a military family and lived with her parents and sisters in many places worldwide, including Germany; Fort Sill, OK; Fort Campbell, KY; Schofield Barracks, HI; Woodbridge, VA; Newport News, VA and Ft Leavenworth, KS.
In 1979, Liz graduated from Leavenworth High School, in Kansas and in 1999 earned her degree as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Park University in Parkville, MO.
After High School, Liz married her true soul mate Kevin Holder. Together they enjoyed his music and their memorable Harley Davidson motorcycle journeys, and a shared loved for their dogs and cats. Liz had incredible affection for and dedication to the newborn infants for whom she cared during her nursing career both at University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ and Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. She was a bright light to all who came in contact with her and will be very deeply missed by her family and friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Kevin in September of 2012; and her mother Jo in March of 2012. She is survived by her father William Hicks of Hereford, AZ; sisters Patricia Stevens (John) of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Shipman of Glenpool, OK; and nieces Amber and Rachel Shipman; nephew Alexander Shipman.
In lieu of flower, the family would respectfully request that memorial contributions in Liz's name be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA), 706 Haddonfield Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002 or www.msassociation.org.
Graveside services will be held at 1PM, Friday December 28, 2012 at Post Cemetery, Fort Huachuca, AZ with Fr. Donne Puckle officiating. Those who wish to attend the service should gather by 12:30 PM at the Widowed Support Center at the Main Gate of Fort Huachuca for the MP escort. Elizabeth will be laid to rest with her mother.
